The 2026 KFC T20 Max is underway, with some of Queensland's best Premier Cricket talent lining up alongside interstate, international and Big Bash players in one of the strongest club-based T20 competitions in Australia. 

For EV2 Sportswear, there is plenty to follow this season, with three of our partner clubs competing across the tournament, South Brisbane, Toombul, Sandgate-Redcliffe cricket club. 

All three represented in the men's competition, while South's and Gators also have representation in the women's tournament. 

Toombul make a strong start

Toombul have been the strongest starting EV2 club in the men's competition, winning two of their opening three matches. 

The Bulls began their campaign with a 42-run victory over Sandgate-Redcliffe, before backing that up with an impressive 52-run win over Valley. Their first defeat came against Northern Suburbs, who won by 29 runs. 

That leaves Toombul sitting inside the leading group after the opening rounds, with two wins from three matches. 

One of the standout individual performances of the entire tournament has come from Toombul's Blake Nikitaris, who blasted 103 from just 55 balls. 

Youn Fast bowler Tom Balkin has also made an impact, taking one of the competition's early four-wicket hauls. 

With players including Nikitaris, Lachlan Hearne and Matt Renshaw in their squad, Toombul have plenty of quality to call on as they push towards the business end of the tournament. 

Souths open with a win

South Brisbane District Cricket Club made a mixed start to the men's competition, sitting at one win and one loss from their opening two matches. 

Souths started with a six-wicket victory over fellow EV2 club Sandgate-Redcliffe at Norman Gray Oval. 

Their second match was a tougher assignment against Western Suburbs, where Wests produced one of the biggest batting performances of the tournament. 

Will Bosisto smashed an unbeaten 132 from 61, while Tom Campbell added an unbeaten 89 as Wests defeated South Brisbane by 113 runs. 

With fewer games played than many of the teams around them, there are still plenty of opportunity for Souths to build momentum. 

Their Upcoming clash with Northern Suburbs on Friday the 28th of August at 6:15pm will also be shown live and free on 7plus Sport. 

Gators searching for their first men's win

The Sandgate-Redcliffe Gators have has a difficult opening to the men's competition, beginning with three losses. 

Their campaign started with defeat to Toombul before South Brisbane chased down by their total win by 6 wickets. Valley then defeated the gators by 37 runs. 

Despite the early results, there have been some notable individual performances. Queensland leg spinner Mitch Swepson has already claimed a four-wicket haul, while the Gators' match against Valley produced one of the most unusual passages of the tournament. 

Five wickets fell in a single over, with three dismissals credited to Bryce Street and another two coming through run-outs. 

With plenty quality int heir squad, the Gators will be looking to turn competitive performances into wins as the tournament continues. 

Souths represented in the Women's T20 Max 

South Brisbane Districts are also represented in the women's competition through the combined South/Ipswich T20 side. 

Queensland Crickets official 2026 preview lists a strong squad featuring New Zealand internationals Kate Anderson, and Polly Inglis, along with Rachel Trenaman, Courtney Neale and Olivia Porter. 

Souths players including Matilda Ingram, Emily Titmarsh, Pari More, Tanisha Gudigar and Piper Veivers are also part of the squad. 

The combination has already produced one of the notable results of the opening week. 

ACT all rounder Olivia Porter took and outstanding 6-34 from four overs, while Souths teenager Piper Veivers took 3-40 helping the side to a strong victory over early front runners Wynnum Manly. 

It is a strong example of what the T20 Max competition is designed to provide, giving emerging Premier Cricket players the opportunity to play alongside established domestic and international talent. 

Gators Women off the mark

Sandgate-Redcliffe have also assembled an impressive women's squad for the 2026 tournament. 

Australian batter Georgia Voll headlines the group, alongside Australia A batter Courtney Web, spinner Sophie Day and New Zealand bowler Molly Penfold. 

A showcase for Queensland Cricket

The KFC T20 Max has become an increasingly important part of the Australian cricket pathways. 

Queensland Cricket describes the tournament as Australia's second largest T20 competition behind the Big Bash, bringing interstate and international recruits into Queensland Premier Cricket clubs alongside established locals players and some of the state's best emerging talent. 

For EV2, it is particularly rewarding to see three partner clubs competing on that stage.
