Posted on October 01 2025

The 2025 Hart Premier League Netball season was one to remember, filled with incredible talent, fierce competition, and standout performances. As the season wrapped up, Netball Queensland came together for the annual Performance Pathways Awards Night, honouring the athletes who left their mark on the game.
One of the evening’s brightest highlights was the recognition of Jessie Laga’aia, midcourt powerhouse for the Kedron-Wavell Cougars, who claimed the Katie Walker Medal for the second time in her career (first in 2023).
This medal is more than an award, it represents consistency, leadership, and the ability to influence games at the highest level of competition. Jessie has been all of that and more throughout 2025. A proud Samoa international player and a member of the Queensland Firebirds Future Squad, she continues to prove herself as one of the most exciting talents in the game.
Watching Jessie this season has been nothing short of inspiring. Her calm presence and respect on court are matched only by her fearless, tight defensive style, a combination that makes her not just a standout player, but a role model for the next generation of athletes.
Her journey is proof that dedication and determination truly shine through, and we can’t wait to see where her netball career takes her next.
